Exhibition Overview

Titled Where All Things Grow this exhibition brings together the works of artists Chih-Yu Tseng and Kuan-Yin Lin. Through painting and sculpture respectively, the two artists explore how forms of life leave traces within materials, beginning with plants, light, shadow, and everyday objects, and revealing new modes of existence through processes of transformation.

Kuan-Yin Lin uses plants, architectural remnants, and everyday objects as creative mediums, transforming familiar domestic plants into sculptural reliefs. By incorporating old wooden window frames salvaged from demolished traditional houses, the frames become another kind of viewing window, carrying traces of lived experiences and local memories. The lives that once grew naturally beneath eaves, beside windows, and in garden corners are condensed into a new form of “furniture” imbued with a sense of time.

Chih-Yu Tseng’s practice centers on the depiction of flowers, plants, and landscapes, exploring the formation of light, time, and memory within materiality. She transforms her observations and experiences of walking through forests and natural landscapes into outlines, washes, and layered structures on paper, allowing plant forms to emerge and fade between light and paper, much like memories that continuously surface and recede.
