The exhibition takes “Small World” as its theme. Beyond referring to a tangible space, it also serves as a metaphor for an inner landscape that exists between reality and imagination. Both artists focus on the subtle and often overlooked aspects of everyday life, gathering fragments of ordinary scenery and the quiet, unspoken emotions that linger within daily experience.
Through nihonga (mineral pigment) painting, Chang Yun-Chia depicts narrative scenes such as buildings, vacant houses, playground structures, and corners of the city. Her works construct spatial narratives where urban fables coexist with dreamlike atmospheres—places that resemble a kind of “floating city.” The works also reflect gestures of losing and retrieving, climbing and overlooking; through shifting perspectives and sensorial landscapes, they present a world that feels both old and newly revealed.
Chen Yi-Chieh, working primarily in sculpture, creates connections between emotion and sensory perception—capturing those subtle feelings that often remain hidden or unseen. Centered on everyday sensations and delicate emotional states, the expressions and postures she carves are at once playful and quietly contemplative. Her sculptures resemble characters from a story, extending and amplifying emotional experience; each work carries its own situation or narrative, shaping a world defined by the artist’s unique perspective.
As viewers move through the space, these small and intimate elements take on new scale, as if entering a place of dwelling woven from stories, memories, and emotions.
